My Review

Out for Blood delivers a page-turning thriller set against the breathtaking yet perilous backdrop of Montana. Here’s a closer look at what makes this book a standout:

Plot: The narrative is meticulously crafted, with each chapter escalating the tension and stakes. Steck’s ability to weave complex conspiracies with relentless action keeps the reader hooked from start to finish. The pacing is impeccable, ensuring there’s never a dull moment.

Characters: Matthew Redd is a compelling protagonist, showcasing both vulnerability and unyielding determination. His tactical brilliance and survival skills are vividly depicted, making him a character to root for. The supporting cast, especially Gavin Kline, adds depth to the story, each playing crucial roles in the unfolding drama.

Setting: Steck’s portrayal of Montana’s harsh winter is both beautiful and terrifying. The detailed descriptions immerse readers in the unforgiving landscape, making Redd’s struggle for survival all the more palpable. The setting is not just a backdrop but a character in itself, influencing the story’s direction and intensity.

What I Liked: The nonstop action and high stakes kept me on the edge of my seat. The plot twists were unpredictable, and the detailed tactical maneuvers added authenticity to the thriller. The emotional depth of Redd’s fight to protect his family added a layer of relatability to the high-octane action.

What I Didn’t Like: While the book is thrilling, the complexity of the conspiracy might be overwhelming for some readers. A few plot points felt slightly rushed, but these are minor quibbles in an otherwise engaging narrative.

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Ryan Steck’s Out for Blood is a masterful addition to the Matthew Redd series. It’s perfect for fans of intense, action-packed thrillers with rich character development and a vividly described setting. If you enjoy the hit show Yellowstone or the works of C.J. Box and Jack Carr, this book is a must-read.
