Three Things to Always Remember

by E. P. Bellows

Boy under a tree reading

You are extraordinary

John William Drake is awkward, clumsy, curious, and fearful of the future. He is bullied in school. If it weren’t for his experience in Azra’s Pith, he might just believe what the bullies said about him. He discovered the absolute truth about himself. He is extraordinary. When faced with adversity dwelling within him is a dormant light just waiting to shine… he just has to come to believe it. The choice is there. He could choose the path of fear and believe what others tell him he is capable of, or he could go within and know without a doubt his boundless potential.

Don't be afraid to let your light shine…

In Azra’s Pith the Élan is the force of all. Empyrean wizards know this force. They live in the light. It is their very existence. Secret they know… everyone carries this light. The key is to not be afraid to let it shine. Let your light guide you. Once John discovers his light, the world opens up for him. His light was so bright, the opinions and judgments of others dimmed.

Live with purpose…

We are all born with purpose… each and every one of us. John knows deep within he has a calling. While just a whisper, the voice called and nudged him along. As the story unfolds his purpose reveals itself. You may not hear that voice just yet; be patient… it is there and when the time is right you will hear it shouting inside you. Don’t ignore it. Seize your moment! ❣️

My Review

⭐⭐⭐⭐

In "Quest for Copia", E.P. Bellows invites young readers into a fantastical world filled with ancient magic, hidden cities, and perilous adventures. This children's fantasy novel captures the imagination and curiosity of its audience from the very first page.

Plot

Bellows weaves a rich tapestry of adventure and intrigue, taking readers through mystical landscapes and thrilling encounters. The plot is fast-paced and engaging, keeping readers on the edge of their seats as John and Celeste face various challenges and uncover secrets about Copia and its dark history.

Characters

John William Drake and Celeste are relatable and brave protagonists who demonstrate the importance of friendship and perseverance. Their dynamic is heartwarming and adds a layer of depth to the narrative. The antagonist, Imperious the Great, is a formidable foe whose dark sorcery and malevolent intentions create a palpable tension throughout the story.

Setting

The world-building in "Quest for Copia" is exceptional. Bellows paints a vivid picture of Copia, from its golden splendor to its shadowy past. The descriptions of the landscapes, magical artifacts, and ancient ruins transport readers to a realm where anything is possible.

What I Liked

One of the highlights of the book is its ability to balance action with moments of introspection and growth. John’s determination to find his father and the duo’s courage in the face of danger make for an inspiring read. The illustrations by E.P. Bellows enhance the storytelling, bringing characters and scenes to life in delightful detail.

What I Didn't Like

While the book is an overall enchanting read, there are moments where the pacing feels a bit rushed. A little more time spent on developing certain plot points could have added even more depth to the story.
