My Review

Two millennia after dragons once ruled the world, their reign has ended, and humans and lizard-like species now dominate the land. But peace is fragile. When an old enemy resurfaces with plans for domination, war erupts once again, drawing multiple factions into its chaos.

Maryla, a Mystic Mage of the DrakonCore, is sent on a mission to investigate stolen Drakships and Drakboats. Meanwhile, Jonnis, a young dragon, endures cruel treatment in a training program, leading to a rebellious act that lands him in prison. As war intensifies, unexpected alliances form, including with Captain Kolkov, who—after an assassination attempt—decides to aid Maryla’s cause. With growing threats and visions of destruction looming, Maryla must act quickly to save her squadron before it’s too late.

What I Loved

🔥 The Worldbuilding & Action Sequences – The novel is fast-paced, filled with action that keeps you constantly on the move. The battle scenes are thrilling, making you feel like you’re right in the middle of the chaos.

🐉 The Organic Technology – One of the most fascinating elements was the combination of dragons and machines. The idea of Drakships and Drakboats—living, organic vehicles—is both unique and a little creepy in the best way possible.

💡 Jonnis’ Character Arc – While Maryla is a strong protagonist, Jonnis stole the show for me. His struggles, growth, and conflicts made him a standout character, and I’d love to see more of his story in future books.

What Left Me Confused

🔄 Multiple Perspectives & Plot Threads – While I enjoyed the different character viewpoints, I sometimes struggled to understand how all the stories connected. It felt like a plot-driven book rather than a character-driven one, which might not be everyone’s preference.

📡 The Technology Level – The world features phones and advanced tech but also organic dragon-based machinery. I found myself questioning how these technologies coexisted and would have loved more explanation on how this world functions.

Final Thoughts

The DrakonCore is an ambitious fantasy novel that brings unique worldbuilding, intense action, and intriguing characters to the table. While some aspects of the technology and multiple viewpoints left me with questions, the fast-paced and fascinating dragon-tech hybrid elements kept me engaged. If you enjoy plot-driven fantasy with a mix of sci-fi elements, this book is worth checking out.

📖 Final Verdict: 3.5/5 ⭐⭐⭐✨
